What Is Wolf in Golf?

Wolf is one of the most exciting golf betting games because the teams change every single hole. One player is designated the "wolf" and rotates in order throughout the round. On each hole, the wolf tees off first (or last, depending on your group's preference) and watches the other players hit. After seeing the tee shots, the wolf picks a partner for that hole — or goes lone wolf for double the stakes.

If the wolf picks a partner, it's a 2v2 best-ball format for that hole (or 2v1 with three players). The team with the lower best-ball score wins points from the losing team. If the wolf goes alone, the points are doubled — a lone wolf wins (or loses) twice as much per opponent. Some groups play blind wolf, where the wolf declares "lone wolf" before anyone tees off, for even higher stakes.

Settle Up Golf handles all the Wolf math automatically. Set your wager per point, choose net or gross scoring, and the app tracks the rotating wolf, partner picks, lone wolf declarations, and point totals hole by hole. At the end of the round, it calculates who owes who and lets you settle with one tap.

Wolf works great with 3, 4, or 5 players — the rotation adjusts automatically. Combine it with Skins or a Nassau for even more action. New to the app? Start with the round setup guide to learn the basics.
