Step 1 of 5

Tap the sparkle button

From the Home screen or the Setup screen, tap the floating button in the top-right corner. The Starter chat slides up from the bottom.

You'll see a short prompt: "Tell me about your round."

Where to find it: The Starter button is always visible on Home and Setup. If you're already inside a live round, back out to Home first.
Step 2 of 5

Describe your group in plain English

Type a sentence or two describing who's playing and what you want to bet. The more specific you are about dollar amounts, the better the result.

A few example prompts that work well:

Don't overthink it. "Whatever the boys usually play" works too — The Starter will pick reasonable defaults and you can adjust before you tee off.
Step 3 of 5

Review the suggested configuration

The Starter responds with a configuration card showing the games it picked, the wagers, and any modifiers (Nassau presses, Skins carryovers, Wolf options). You'll see something like:

Nassau — $5 front, $5 back, $5 overall, auto-press on 2-down
Skins — $1 per skin, carryovers on

If anything looks off, just keep chatting — "Make it $10 a side instead" or "Drop Skins, add Wolf". The Starter updates the card.

Step 4 of 5

Tap Apply, then Start Round

When you're happy with the suggestion, tap Apply. The Setup screen opens with every field pre-populated — players, games, wagers, modifiers, the works.

Review the screen. Add or swap players from your friends list, change the course, adjust tees. When you're ready, tap Start Round just like a manual setup.

You're still in control. The Starter is a shortcut, not a lock-in. Every game and wager is editable on the Setup screen before you tee off.
Step 5 of 5

Works for tournaments and Birdie Pools too

The Starter isn't just for one-off rounds. Describe a tournament — "Two foursomes, skins across all groups, $20 buy-in" — and it sets up the full event with groups, format, and games.

For season-long pools, say something like "Birdie Pool at Pine Hills, $10 buy-in, ends Labor Day" and it creates the pool with the right course, tee, scoring mode, and end date.

One tool, three flows. Whether it's a quick foursome, a multi-group event, or a season chase, The Starter routes to the right setup screen and pre-fills it.

The Fastest Way to Set Up a Golf Bet

The Starter is Settle Up Golf's AI setup coach. It exists for one reason: setting up a round of golf bets should not take longer than the walk from the parking lot to the first tee. Instead of tapping through menus to pick games, configure wagers, and toggle modifiers, you describe what you want in plain English and The Starter does the configuration for you.

It is not a swing coach. It does not give club recommendations, course strategy, or sportsbook-style odds. It is purely a setup assistant — a chat-based alternative to the manual setup wizard. Everything it suggests lands in the same Setup screen you'd reach manually, so you always have the final say before the round starts.

The Starter works for rounds, tournaments, and Birdie Pools. Free accounts get a generous monthly cap; Premium is unlimited. Powered by OpenRouter.
