Welcome to Settle Up Golf ("we," "our," or "us"). We operate the website at settleup-golf.com and the web application at app.settleup-golf.com (collectively, the "Service").

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address — used for authentication, account recovery, and important service communications
• Display name — shown to other users in shared rounds and tournaments
• Authentication credentials — securely managed through our authentication provider (Supabase). If you sign in with Google OAuth, we receive your name and email from Google but never your Google password.

Profile Information (Optional)

You may choose to provide additional information to enhance your experience:

• Phone number — used solely for pre-populating SMS group text messages to share round results with your playing group
• Handicap index — your handicap index, used for net scoring calculations

Golf Data

When you use the Service, we collect and store:

• Round scores and game results
• Betting game configurations and settlement amounts
• Tournament participation and scores
• Course and player roster information

Payment Information

If you subscribe to our premium features, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe (web), Apple (iOS), or Google (Android). We do not store your credit card number, bank account details, or other sensitive financial information on our servers. We retain only identifiers necessary to manage your subscription status.

Technical Information

We automatically collect certain technical information:

• Push notification tokens — if you opt in to push notifications, we store your device token via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to deliver notifications
• Local storage data — we use your browser's localStorage as a write-through cache for faster load times. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to third parties.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide the Service — track golf rounds, calculate game results, and settle bets among your group
• Enable sharing — allow you to share rounds and tournaments with other players via share codes and SMS
• Sync across devices — keep your round data synchronized in real time across multiple devices
• Process subscriptions — manage your premium subscription through Stripe, Apple, or Google
• Send notifications — deliver push notifications about round updates and tournament activity (if you opt in)
• Calculate statistics — generate scoring trends, head-to-head records, and performance analytics from your round history
• Improve the Service — understand usage patterns to fix bugs and develop new features

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

We do not use advertising or ad-tracking services.

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers

We use trusted third-party services to operate the app:

• Supabase — database hosting, authentication, and real-time data synchronization
• Stripe — payment processing for web-based premium subscriptions
• RevenueCat — in-app purchase management for iOS and Android subscriptions
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — push notification delivery
• Vercel — web application hosting and serverless functions

These providers process your data only as necessary to perform their services and are bound by their own privacy policies.

Other Users

When you share a round or join a tournament, other participants in that round or tournament can see your display name, handicap information, scores, and game results. Phone numbers are only shared with participants in a round or tournament for the purpose of group SMS messaging.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process, such as a court order or subpoena.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers located in the United States through our hosting provider, Supabase. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

• Encrypted data transmission via HTTPS/TLS
• Row-level security (RLS) policies ensuring users can only access their own data
• Secure authentication with hashed passwords (we never store plaintext passwords)
• JWT-based API authentication for serverless functions
• Stripe webhook signature verification for payment events

While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to using commercially reasonable measures to protect your data.

Data Retention

We retain your account information and golf data for as long as your account is active. Round history and tournament results are kept indefinitely so you can access your complete playing history and statistics.

If you wish to delete your account and associated data, please contact us at contactus@settleup-golf.com. Upon receiving a deletion request, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Cookies and Local Storage

Settle Up Golf does not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.

We use localStorage (a browser storage mechanism) to cache your round data, player rosters, and course information locally on your device. This improves performance by reducing server requests and enabling faster load times. This data is stored only on your device and is not shared with any third party.

Our authentication provider (Supabase) stores a session token in localStorage to keep you signed in between visits.

Children's Privacy

Settle Up Golf is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information as promptly as possible.
